Psychodynamics of your Fourth chakra.

One of the unique aspects of my 4-year professional training in energy healing at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing is our study of 'psychodynamics'.

This means I spend a lot of time watching what happens in your energy field as you share about your struggles and triumphs.

Every thought, feeling, experience, or memory you have or share, plays out in your aura as energy movement.

I have learned to track this, which gives us a secret extra layer of information that goes deeper than just talking or using the rational mind to sort through your challenges.

You can see where your 4th chakra is (4A and 4B) in the image below.

This image of your chakras comes from Barbara Brennan's book Hands of Light. It is a great resource to help you learn more about the psychodynamics of your aura and chakras.

What is happening in your fourth chakra?

The front of your 4th chakra (4A):

➡️ This energy centre enters your body in the middle of your sternum--the bone which connects your ribs over your heart.

➡️ Here you feel love, as well as feelings of compassion, forgiveness, charity, and kindness.

➡️  4A holds your feelings of love for other human beings, and sentient beings, as well as your openness to life.

Where does your heart want to soften toward yourself, another human, humanity, an animal or nature? You are connected to all of them through your heart.

The back of your 3rd chakra (4B):

➡️ This energy centre enters your body exactly at the 5th thoracic vertebrae in your spine. That is midway between your shoulder blades.

➡️ The back chakras are 'will' chakras. The back of your heart holds your ego will, or will towards the outer world, to go after what your heart desires.

➡️  The trick with the front and back of your heart is to balance loving and willing.

Are you very open hearted in the front, but have a tough time going after what you want? Maybe you are a romantic.

Do you push yourself so hard in the back that you have a hunched back and lots of shoulder and upper back pain? Do you run over others with your will and disregard their hearts?

Or can you move forward in life toward what you desire, while keeping your heart open to who you meet and the connections and adventures that unfold as they participate in your path and you participate in theirs?

Balanced Expression:

Front (4A):

➡️ Centre through which we love. Connectedness with all life. Love for ourselves, our children, our mates, our families, our pets, our friends, our neighbours, our countrymen, our fellow human beings, all fellow creatures upon the earth.

➡️ When it is open you can see the whole individual within your fellow human. Let go, trust, love.

Back (4B):

➡️ You go after what you want.

➡️ Positive attitude about accomplishing things. You see others as supports. You then experience support.

➡️ You experience your will and divine will in agreement.

Unbalanced expression:

Front (4A):

➡️ Trouble loving, in the sense of giving love without expecting anything back in return, which is unconditional love.

Back (4B):

➡️ Misconception that God’s will and others’ will is opposed to our will. People appear to be blocks in the way of getting what we want. We go through them or run over them rather than see them as helping.

➡️ Competitiveness. “My will over yours, my will over God’s”. Image of the universe as a hostile place.

➡️ Functions through control and seeks to make the world safe by controlling others. I want my way without having to consider your humanity.

Unfortunately, much of the focus on competition in Western culture encourages ambition and will in the back of the heart, and discourages softness and co-operation in the front.

Good news though! I hear from some of my friends who work in the public school system in Ontario and Quebec, that more and more, there is a welcoming of bringing in lessons to encourage co-operation, compassion, space for feelings to be honoured, and connection to nature.

What happens when your heart chakra gets clogged up?

Many of you are already feeling the overuse of your 4B chakra.

Do you sit at a computer all day, not really relating with your heart, trying to plow through a whole lot of tasks in an allotted amount of time? Are you loving what you are doing?

Besides the sitting with arms outreached position, it is the overuse of your will chakra in the back of your heart that contributes to upper back pain.

In the front, when you get bogged down, your posture may sag over your heart. You are dis-heartened.

Your mood may feel low. What is the point of life if there is no love exchange? Who will you share those hard-won goals with?

Too much heartbreak or the feeling that you cannot follow your heart's desire, may leave you with pain in your heart.

Driving hard with 4B and keeping 4A closed, can be a recipe for heart a attack in the future.

What can you do to heal your heart?

Follow your heart! This requires taking risks. Let the back of your heart support you with it's strong will.

Here are 3 ways I can help you heal your 4th chakra...

➡️ If you struggle with heart conditions, heartbreak, heartache, heart burn (angry heart!), or struggle to soften your will and open your heart we can look at these issues in 1:1 healing work.
