What I'm Training In Right Now (And Why It Matters For You)
The neuroscience behind why being deeply understood can change your nervous system.

This year, I’m enrolled in year-long training called UNTYING THE KNOTS OF TRAUMA: RESONANT BASICS with Sarah Peyton.
I’ve been taking training with Sarah Peyton for a few years now. I can’t remember how I was drawn to her work initially. She is a Family Constellations practitioner so that was my doorway in.
From learning about our 8 circuits of Emotion & Motivation from her and how to bring our emotions directly into a constellation process, I quickly became fascinated with her work in relational neuroscience.
And so another thread is being woven into my work with you.
Sarah’s speciality is relational neuroscience. She is great at geeking out on all the latest neuroscience research and then translating it into layperson's terms and practical ways to bring it into client sessions that actually help.
What the heck is ‘relational neuroscience’?
Relational neuroscience is the study of what brains do in relationship.
Sarah’s training is specifically teaching me how resonant language — being deeply, accurately understood — allows the brain to process trauma and transform it into integrated life experience.
Having someone resonate back to us how something really felt or affected us, can help heal trauma by literally changing the brain.
In short: it's the neuroscience of how being with another person (or with oneself, via self-warmth which I start to teach you at the 4-6 month mark in the 1:1 Healing Intensive) shapes and can rewire the nervous system.
Woven together with my training in Somatic Experiencing™, it adds an extra layer of depth and care to our work together.
What is resonant language?
When I work with you in sessions (either within a 6-12 session Relief & Restore package, or the deeper 3-6 month Healing Intensive) you will hear me dip into Resonance, or Resonant language this way:
I may do this by hearing what you say and share, or by reading how you are holding certain things in your body.
Jane, do you need acknowledgement of shock?
Is it like your heart has been crushed?
Does little Jane (a younger part of you held in memory and body memory) need acknowledgement of Alarmed Aloneness?
Would you love to destroy this person who violated your boundaries like Godzilla stomping on a building! (To resonate with and help feel rage and let it mobilize in a safe way.)
If I make a good 'empathy guess' you will feel it land in your body or resonate.
Something has been touched and is changing inside your body, nervous system and brain.
We are growing your neural pathways of empathy, compassion and self-warmth.
You will also feel your level of stress, or nervous system activation come down a notch.
Notice resonance is very different from reassurance.
Reassurance sounds more like:
Don't worry, you can get through this.
I'm sure that person didn't mean to step on your toes.
Oh, there, there now.
It may also sound like offers to fix things logically (sometimes necessary, but the need for resonance is also real), or advice.
Our logical brain likes advice. This is the left side of the brain.
Our body and relational brain likes resonance. It touches the right side of our brain.
How do I bring this thread into the dance of Energy Healing, Craniosacral Therapy, Somatic stress and trauma healing work, and generational trauma healing work?
1 hour or 1.5 hour healing sessions with me are an organic dance between these many threads I have woven into my body of work.
My ‘secret sauce’ is that I can read and track the psychodynamics of your energy field to attune to the right moment to move into any particular skill.
‘Skill’ doesn’t even seem like quite the right word. I am attuning to and dancing with you and the movement of your soul and life force energy through the blocks in your energy field.
You lead me in the dance by learning to attune to your physical sensations, or ‘felt sense’.
Feeling sensations in your body is your doorway into what is moving in your nervous system and your energy field.
As I continue my training this year through a weekly class in “Untying the Knots of Trauma: Resonant Basics” with Sarah, I’ll share a bit with you in my newsletters about what I’m learning, and how you will experience it in our sessions.
If you would like to step into this work with me to clear out the triggers and traumas that still live as blocks in your energy field, charges in your nervous system, symptoms in your body, and painful patterns and challenges in your life, here’s how we can work together.
