Shock Trauma
Monday, September 16, 7:00pm - 8:30pm
la Grange Country Inn, Wakefield, Quebec
Too much, too hard, too fast: the accidents and injuries that shake you up and injure your body, and your sense of safety.
➡️ Have you been in a motor vehicle accident as a passenger, driver, pedestrian or cyclist?
➡️ Have you had a fall that resulted in injury, concussion, vertigo or other symptoms, while walking, skiing, doing sports or just navigating stairs?
➡️ Have you survived an assault, an animal attack, or rape?
➡️ Have you lived through war or a natural disaster like a tornado, storm or flood?
➡️ Have you ever been poisoned, nearly drowned, shocked, or choked?
Life can throw us challenges that push us beyond our capacity to cope and integrate these overwhelming experiences.
Cutting edge trauma therapy shows that these experiences live in our body and nervous system as locked down states of incomplete fight, flight, freeze, alarmed aloneness and appease reactions we used to protect ourselves.
How do you get that intense energy back out of your body that goes on to create symptoms of dysregulation like anxiety, pain syndromes, disturbed sleep, digestive upset, flashbacks and phobias?
Shelley is a professionally trained energy healer with a specialization in trauma healing, both personal and intergenerational. She has been observing energy field phenomena and trauma energy for 24 years and worked with 1000’s of clients.
In this talk, Shelley will do a gentle demonstration with a participant or two of how simple, accessible and kind renegotiating trauma can be.
You will also get a chance to try some simple exercises to “try on” the basics of trauma healing for yourself.
Developmental Trauma
Monday, October 7, 7:00pm - 8:30pm
la Grange Country Inn, Wakefield, Quebec
The stress of growing up and trying to get what you need.
➡️ Do you have birth trauma or early hospitalizations or medical interventions as an infant or child?
➡️ Did you grow up in a home where there was alcoholism or other addictions?
➡️ Was there someone in your family of origin who struggled with mental illness?
➡️ Did your family have a lot of financial stress or other stresses that made for an intense or anxious atmosphere?
➡️ Did you find school demanding or stressful as a child? Was it easy or hard to make and have friends?
Our body, nervous system and energy field respond to emotional stress in both similar and different ways to physical or shock trauma.
Cutting edge trauma therapy shows that these experiences live in our body and nervous system as locked down states of incomplete bracing, tensing, retracting, fight, flight, freeze, alarmed aloneness and appease reactions we use to try to be ok and feel safe.
How do you really take care of that inner child beyond rehashing your childhood experiences over and over again in therapy?
Shelley will do a gentle demonstration of how simple, accessible and kind renegotiating trauma can be.
